Validity of JW Baptism
by maputo95 inplease could someone tell me what is said in a jw baptism?
i was told that jw baptisms are invalid because they do not baptise in the "name of the father and of the son and of the holy spirit.
because of this invalid baptism a catholic cannot marry a jw with church approval, i think.

I think the JW baptism including my own is totally invalid as i was not baptised into the real Christ.

Did you find JW's infecting others just so that they didn't miss a meeting?
by highdose ingive you an example: there was a hoiler than thou, devout couple in my cong who had a son.
the son aged about 5 had chicken pox, they took him to the meetings, never missing one so that he would learn that you did not miss a meeting!.
the result was several of the infirm and eldery ones contracted either pox or associated illness like shingles.

by teela(2) inat a young age i remember watching tv and commenting why is the red cross always helping people and we don't.
the second big one is if the witnesses only started up in 1890 - 1900 did jehovah not have anyone else doing the preaching work?.
as a child i don't think we think about theological problems so what tipped you off?

I was talking about this last night. Although I have thought for sometime that the reason I went out was the February 1994 Watchtower. The 1975 fiasco changed the way we lived our lives more than I realized and I had stopped attending assemblies gradually and was much more critical of the Congregations especially the Elders. Although I totally believed I was still a witness and supported the Anointed. In 1993 we had a problem and a sister asked me if it would cause me to go out of the "truth" I laughed. I think for me I can put up with alot of imperfection. But false teaching is different. In the book "God's Eternal Purpose Now Triumphing for Man's Good" page 51 it states that the seventh creative day begins 4026 on page 131 it tells you we were half way through at 526 with the belief of a 7000 year creative day which we were taught the end would have to come by 1975 or the figures were wrong. We studied the book in 1975. Then they acted as if they hadn't taught anything. It weakened my faith in them as the slave at some level in my mind. The February 1994 watchtower meant they would change the generation. Which makes you question the validity of the preaching, the resurrection and all of the teachings. Having left, (generally speaking) I sleep better and the antacid tablets I had at the side of my bed for years have gone.

Are you a stay at home mom, working woman with or with out children or a combination of both?
by restrangled ini am asking this based on sd-7's posts and am curious what you consider fair as far as house upkeep in the position you are in.. i was raised in the 60/70 decades from parents married in the 1950's so i seem to have a pretty old fashioned idea of what "housewife" means.. when i was working i had no tolerance for any slop habits, but since i'm home i don't require much.. so what are your ideals, how does your home operate?

My Memorial Tonight
by jookbeard ini sat in the car with some trepidation and minor nerves and walked the 200 yards to the k/h on this damp dreary night.
i was a bit early and was greeted pleasantly by a hall attendant who shook my hand an asked my name, as i walked inside to my surprise i recognized 3 of the brethren, one was a guy who was a reasonably good pal who dated a friend of mine all those years back, he exchanged glances and he blanked me, the others were a middle aged couple who were sat a few rows in front of me but no eye contact was made, i proceeded to sit down and another 2 sisters greeted me, so in the space of about 10 mins a grand total of 4 people have made the big effort to say hi.
the opening song commenced and the sister next to me kindly offered me her songbook.

FAITH: accepting what you are told.....without question!
by Terry infaith: if we adopt it as a way of accepting what we are told.... would investigating what we are told be a lack of faith?.
when i was 20 years old i was instructed to refuse induction into the armed forces.
privately, i was instructed to not accept the legal alternative: alternate service (work in a hospital as a non-combatant conscientious objector.).

leavingwt,
I do not wish to share the details of the reason for praying. However on one occasion when I found the need to pray most of the night. (There have been other nights) The problem had totally gone the next day. The manner in which the problem was dealt with left me in no doubt my prayer had been answered.
That's not much in over 50 years is it but it is enough for me.
There have been other occasions where the problems have been dealt with on a slower scale. We had supernatural problems at one time and these were also dealt with. (I think only God can deal with some things)
When you say prayers ignored or not answered. Yes I would agree with you. It seems as if God ignores us. Maybe he sees the bigger picture. Maybe he gives us what we need, more faith.
